Applications For The 2023 MACB Young Scientist Awards
Objectives
- To recognise young scientists’ contributions and achievements in R&D in Clinical Chemistry & Laboratory Medicine.
- To encourage the enhancement of excellence, creativity and involvement in Science and Technology in young scientists.
Eligibility/Criteria
- Must be less than 40 years of age on 5 Sept 2023 (33rd MACB Annual Conference) in the year of submission
- Active Young Scientists under the age of 40 with active involvement in R&D Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine in the past years.
Application Requirements should contain
The selection process will take into consideration the requirement listed below:
- Online application with relevant documents attached:
- i. Applicant details
- ii. Abstract:
- added value / R&D in Clinical Chemistry & Laboratory Medicine
- paper must be written and presented in English.
- Please use only the abstract template provided during the submission.
- iii. Applicants shall get the endorsement from their institution of employment
- Official photo of the award recipients may be used by the MACB for promotional purposes
- For winners (outside of Malaysia), a copy of the applicant's first page of their passport is required as identification.
- Each applicant is permitted to only ONE full paper submission.
- The applicant must be the first author AND the presenting author of the abstract submitted.
Submission process
Closing Date
The deadline for application is 15 Julai 2023
All applications for the 2023 MACB-YSA must be submitted electronically, without exception, and must include all requested information via the link provided.
The submission document must be uploaded as a single file (not more than 4 MB). All of the following components must be integrated in a single document: Abstract and applicant’s CV.
Awardees Incentives
MACB Young Scientist Awards
Three (3) winners will be selected from all the abstracts submitted.
These three successful winners will be invited to attend 33rd MACB Annual Conference which will be held at Pullman Hotel, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The winners will receive
- a certificate of award
- complimentary registration to attend the 33rd MACB Conference 2023
- expenses for travel and hotel accommodation for a 2-night stay, for a sum not exceeding MYR 2,000. All claims MUST be accompanied with receipts.
Prior to receiving the prize, the winner shall
- participate in the MACB Young Scientist Awards oral presentation session
- submission of full paper in the MACB Journal of Clinical Biochemists (MJCB).

Selection of Applicants
- The MACB Awards Subcommittee will manage and execute the 2023 MACB Young Scientist Awards selection process.
- The shortlisted nominees will be reviewed and ranked by the MACB Awards Subcommittee. The MACB council members will be notified of the final list.
- The judging panels will include independent representatives from the health industry, corporate, educator, researcher and experts with laboratory medicine background. The applicants’ written information will be used solely in the selection process.
- The shortlisted applicant will be assessed by the judges following strictly with the selection criteria to determine the finalists. The panel’s verdict is final.
- If there’s any fraud/suspicious during the participation, application may be disqualified/ terminated.

Active Young Scientists under the age of 40 with a great passion involvement in R&D Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine for the past years
2023 YSA Awardees
The 2023 MACB Young Scientist Awards will be announced 2 weeks after the closing date.
